Brief bio
Ronaldo Porto Macedo Junior is a professor at the Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de São Paulo (Legal Philosophy and Legal Theory), at the Fundação Getúlio Vargas de São Paulo. After graduating in Law and Social Sciences at the Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de São Paulo (USP) he obtained his master in Philosophy at the same university. In 1998 he concluded his PhD in Philosophy and Legal Theory at USP. In 1993 he was awarded the MA title in Philosophy. His book “Relational Contracts and Consumer Protection” (Max Limonad, , 1998) was awarded the prize Ada Pellegrini Grinover as the best book on consumer protection published in Brazil during 1998-2000. This book was also published in Argentina as Contratos Relacionales y Defensa del Consumidor, 2006 – Editorial La Ley. From 1994 to 1996, Porto was a Visiting Scholar at Harvard Law School. In 1995 he was awarded a Fulbright Grant. In 2002 he was a visiting researcher at Yale Law School. Since 1989, he is Assistant to Attorney General Office (State of São Paulo – now working at the Environmental Protection Division). He is a former Commissioner at the Administrative Counsel of Economic Defense of Brazil (CADE) (Brazilian Antitrust Tribunal). In 2002 he published the book “Carl Schmitt and the foundation of Law” (Max Limonad, 2002). |
